maybe this is to similar but that wont put us off eh..smile
Do you fear death, will you dread the inevitable tap on the shoulder, from the grim reaper..or would you say all right big lad let's go...cheers .Alex
I'll start off with a definate No!.. Death holds no fear for me, and as far as it goes, I can't wait for the ultimate adventure..
but what if there's nothing on the other side! well then I guess that's kinda a silly question as, if there's nothing then you won't know about it but even so.guess
ahh but who's to say you will still be blind after all it's purely a physical thing
but you might just die and that might be the end of it!
maybe.. would that be a disappointment to you.. for me it would be a huge let down..
ah but it wouldn't though. because if there was nothing on the other side, i.e. if you just died and there was no afterlife and your soul died with your body, then you wouldn't know about it so wouldn't be able to be disappointed that there was nothing ...
that's true nd its surprising how many people actually think you just die and there's nothing...I take it that's your opinion..what if you knew that your soul/spirit didn't die but transcended death and continued..
ah no actually I'm not sure one way or the other. as I put it to people .. I'm not hugely religious but I like to keep an open mind on the afterlife in case there is one and I miss out on it, lol.
ok do you think you might be left on earth as a trapped and miserable spirit ..personally I'm hoping to come back as a poltergiest
no I sincerely hope not. I would like to think that if there is an afterlife, that we live for a purpose, and that the afterlife has to be something worthwhile...
hmm if its wortwhile death would be continually tapping the best people on the shoulder..what happens to the less fortunate
well, if you're a believer in a heaven/hell senario, I would like to think that heaven is something that would be different for all of us, something maybe that we liked most during our life on earth .. whereas hell would perhaps be something that we did not like as much, e.g. heaven for me would be a warm country, lots of outdoor living, a sailing boat, baby grand, good food and happyness (happyness would be number 1 of course), whereas hell would be .. um .. think i'll not go there, but its something I wouldn't wanna spend all eternity doing ..
I hope "heaven" is an exact replica of K2 then I can spend eternity doing something that's impossible in life..and Ardeth wont need to worry about me being killed..plus she can relax in base camp enjoying the stonking view of a hill she's daft about..
*pokes head in cautiously* you guys seem to have a good discussion going... At this point in my life, death would scare the absolute sh*t out of me. I plan to die old, and I have aproximately a zillion things I want to do first. And isn't the idea of nothing after death terrifying in itself? I think that an abrupt and total cease in conciousness, to be no more, ever, is the most incomprehensible concept to the human mind. And the heaven/hell senario? I have problems with the idea of dividing people into good and evil, reward and punishment, as though there are only two types of life to lead and therefor only two outcomes, but I won't go into those. Also, I think that an eternal, unchangeing heaven would drive the average human crazy, and therefor we must change our conciousness somehow after death, or else we have the idea of an eternal paradise wrong. While we're picking and choosing, I think reincarnation's the way to go. I can't think of anything I'd like more after this life than another one. Just some musings, Erin.
yeh you make some good points ... the thought of total nothingness is kinda scary, although as you won't be aware of it I guess it won't be that scary at the time. As for reincarnation, I think that another life would be kinda cool, as long as it was a good one, and one in which you could potentially go and correct your mistakes from the life you led previously.
Erin you hit the nail on the head..I only know of a handful of people, who are unbothered by the thought of nothing, they assume death to be the ultimate cessation of everything...And as for heaven n hell I agree with your views..
